What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Newsletter

The following is applicable if the app or software requires you to supply your email address for example to create a user account or if you sign up to our newsletter by supplying your email:

When you purchase or install our software or apps or any other of our products either directly from our group of websites or any third party website such as app stores, then in so doing so you agree to allow us to send you emails which are needed to facilitate use of our service for example to send you verification email or notifications. You will be given the option in app or in email to opt in to receive marketing emails from us. When we do add your email address to our mailing list(s), emails you will recieve will only come from us. You may receive additional emails from the developer of the specific app/software related to the app or technical support/updates. We will never sell, disclose or pass on your email address to any other third party.

Opt Out:

We provide a method of opting out from our mailings in every email, this may be in the form of an unsubscribe link, or asking you to reply with “unsubscribe”. When you do opt out we will remove your email and add it to our opted out list. This will take effect usually within 24 hours however we ask that you allow atleast 7 days for it to be fully removed due to emails in the process of being sent, emails that may not have reached you yet, or automated system emails being sent to you from our server.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on our website we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

In most of our free or lite version mobile apps and sofware we show ads. We may also show ads in some paid or pro version apps. Please see app specific privacy policies (above) if available for your app.

We shows ads from third party providers as well as our own, these may be banners ads or videos ads. Some of these ad networks may need to upload data from your device to improve user experience and show more relevant personalized ads.

This data is most likely read from cookies stored on your device from previous visits to our site or other websites. Data read can include device identifiers, location data and other demographic or interest data.

In the case of apps if you do not consent to this please purchase disable ads feature (if available) in the app or uninstall the app. You can also pay for pro versions of the app which will be ad free (if stated so in its description). When using any of our mobile apps the app will have to identify what device type you are using, the OS version/name, sensors available, cameras available and what other features the device has available. We have to do this to enable or disable certain device specific feaures. We may also make a record of this information on our server if it is required for statistical purposes (for example we want to see how many users are on Windows Phone) or for the functionality of the app. This information is anonymous.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment.

We dont share your personal details stored on our server (such as your email address) with third parties.  We may only do so if required to do so by law of the land for example in cases to help prevent or deal with crime.  We use third party services such as Google Analytics – to views stats on users viewing our pages and Cloudflare – to provide a faster page load time and more security.  These services will have access to certain data as required for the service to function as per their own privacy policies which can be found on their respective websites.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
